Boating While Intoxicated

Effective Aug. 28, 2008 the legal limit for boating while intoxicated dropped from the current .10 to .08 blood alcohol content, the same as on the highways. Missouri Water Patrol Captain Matt Walz said boater education of the new legal limit is a priority for officers.

Statistically, alcohol is estimated to be a contributing factor in more than 50 percent of fatalities and 30 percent of injuries related to boating activities which are caused by drivers under the influence of alcohol.
